Fern’s 100 Word Challenge story

I woke up, and it was my birthday!! I jumped out of bed and stared out of my window, I turned around and I heard my mother calling. I took one quick glance at my Paris poster and hurried down the spiral staircase. I pounded across the landing and stroked my lovely cat before running into the purple living room. There, next to a giant pile of good looking presents, was my smiling family. We sat on the sofa, and I started opening presents. First, a tiny silver bear and in the next ed sheeran tickets!! WHOOPEE best birthday ever!!

Holiday Homework!

After half-term, I am going to start giving 5JT the ability to write and publish blog posts for themselves…

To practise for this, over the holiday I want you to write a recount about something fun or interesting that you do during half-term, which I will then publish on the blog as a post of your very own! If you (or a parent/carer) has an email address, you can email your writing to me at 5jtsmr@gmail.com; if you don’t, you can give it to me next week at school.

Remember, we will only be publishing high quality posts on the blog: this means you need to check your writing carefully for spelling mistakes (use the spell check function if you need to); use a range of punctuation; think about which words you are using and whether you can improve them, or add more detail – all the things we have been learning about in school!

Don’t forget – whatever is posted on this blog is read by people all around the world! I look forward to receiving some fantastic writing…

Blogging with parents and carers

Yesterday, 5JT had our “Edison Wednesday” afternoon, where parents and carers are invited into the classroom to see what we have been learning about in our new Edison curriculum.

We wanted to use this opportunity to show everyone how great our blog was, and to help parents and carers to see it and leave comments in case they did not have the chance to visit the site at home.

Here are some pictures from the afternoon; the slideshow was made on an amazing website called Animoto… Videos like this are really easy to make, so have a go at using it yourselves and show me what you come up with!

Star Blogger: Fern

The latest, well-deserved winner of 5JT’s coveted Star Blogger award is Fern, who has not only been brilliant in her comments on our blog, but who has also started commenting on other class blogs in the school to offer her support. Fern, your positivity and fantastic attitude are really appreciated – thank you, and keep it up!

Quadblogging! Please visit and comment on the Year 5 Blog at the International School of Toulouse

This week, 5JT are beginning an exciting new project…

We have signed up to be involved in Quadblogging, a project where 4 classes from around the world take it in turns to read and comment on each other’s blogs. Here is the map showing where the classes in our Quad are based:

On the week beginning Monday 6th February, it is the turn of the Year 5 class at the International School of Toulouse in France to be featured. Please could everyone take the time to read their class blog and leave some comments – you could comment on the book reviews, give your own opinion about the books there, or ask the reviewer a question… We will be doing some of this in class, but it would be great if you could do it at home as well – get your parents and carers involved too!

In the week beginning 27th February it will be our turn to be featured, so we will need some brilliant blogposts ready to be seen by children from all over the world! If you have any ideas for great posts we could make, share them in the comment box here…
